Choosing a Fredericton Wedding Videographer

A great set of photographs are a wonderful way to capture moments in time on your wedding day, but a professional wedding video will allow you to relive the happy tears, funny bloopers, vows, speeches, and all the other emotions shared with your friends and loved ones on that special day. I have spoken with many people who now, years later, regret not being able to remember exactly how it was when they first saw their bride, or remember that emotional speech from their father.

When choosing a Fredericton wedding videographer it is important to realize that there are probably video companies in your area who can produce an extremely high quality production of your wedding and there are others that wouldn’t do much better than your friends or relatives could do with a simple camcorder and tripod. The following are some questions to ask when choosing a Fredericton wedding videography company:

1. Does the company shoot their videos in High Definition or Standard Definition?
Your wedding video is for the future, so the technology used to film it should match this. Standard definition video is much cheaper and easier for a video company to produce, but it is old technology and will not look the best it can be, especially as time goes on. High definition video on the other hand is much more expensive and time consuming for the video company to produce, but the results speak for themselves and give you unmatched quality that will continue to look great for years to come. Make sure the wedding videography company you choose is willing to put forth the extra effort to capture your wedding day in high definition.

2. What formats do they use?
There are many different video formats in use today, but the ones most commonly used by wedding videographers are DVD and BluRay. We are all familiar with DVD and is the current standard when it comes to video and will remain relevant for some time to come. The one current draw back of DVD video is that it is an older technology and can only store video in standard definition. Given how poplular high definition televisions are becoming, you may want to consider getting your wedding video on both DVD and BluRay format. BluRay stores your video in full high definition and can produce some stunning clarity.

3. About equipment
Some wedding video companies flaunt their equipment. Of course good equipment is necessary, but there is also skill, talent and creativity involved in the art of movie making. The best way for potential customers to judge what a company can do is to meet with them and ask for a demonstration of what they can do.

4. What about sound?
How will they be recording the sounds of your wedding? This is one of the most important things to ask any potential videography company. It doesn’t not matter how good your video is if the sound quality is poor. Choose a company that has the proper sound equipment and can show examples where they have used it. For example, they should have a wireless lapel mic for the groom so that the voices of the bride, groom, officiator are crystal clear during the ceremony, regardless of where the camera is. They should use shot gun microphones to capture quality ambient sounds.

5. Look at their website carefully.
Is their website current? Is it appealing to the eye? Is it easy to navigate? Is all the information you need laid out for you? A companies website says a lot about their professionalism. If their own website does not give a impression of professionalism, then how can you expect them to put any more effort into your product?
